| When we began work
on the STAR doors we knew that our aim of improving on the HIP-SE doors
was a difficult and complicated task. With this in mind, we decided to
use the latest and most advanced fluid dynamics' technology and wing type
profiles in order to achieve doors which provide as little drag as possible
when trawling.
As a result of the research and after many tests and improvements, we
have produced a product which is conceptually very sophisticated, easy
to handle and which does not only enhance the catch but also prolongs
the lives of cables and winches.
The STAR doors are characterised by their high performance at all depths
which provides optimum efficiency during catches. Their profile has been
studied to provide a large opening and very little drag which, along with
their reduced dimensions and weight compared to traditional doors, results
in significant savings on fuel. Their design also produces notable gains
in trawl speed without the need for increasing the revs of the main engine.
STAR trawl doors can be manufactured in stainless steel or marine steel,
as well as incorporating supports for all types of sensor.
